ASC Base

We are very proud that Riversdale was chosen as a site for a Wandsworth ASC primary resource base. We opened in September 2018 and now have three classes including: Little Gems, Gems 1, and Gems 2. All pupils have opportunities throughout the day to access their mainstream classes, with support where necessary – the aim is for pupils to be able to access at least 50% of their mainstream lessons successfully.

Provision

Our Gems classroom set ups use a range of ASC strategies. These include the SPELL framework, the SCERTS model, TEACCH, PECS, Attention Autism, and Makaton. In addition, our provision includes:

• Individualised approach to encourage independence and the development of life skills
• Interventions based on individual and group needs
• Multi-disciplinary approach, including access to therapists
• High staff to pupil ratio

Our aim is to offer a broad and balanced curriculum following mainstream but differentiated according to needs, using visuals, small steps and repetition, with a concentration on core subjects, independent learning and social emotional development.

Parents interested in visiting the ASC Base are encouraged to come along with mainstream parents to see everything that Riversdale has to offer.
