Uniform

At Riversdale Primary school it is our policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, and when participating in a school organised event outside normal school hours.

We believe that school uniform:

• promotes a sense of pride in the school;
• engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school;
• is practical and smart;
• identifies the children with the school;
• makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance.

Our uniform consists of:

• Green sweatshirt with the school logo
• Green cardigan with the school logo
• White polo shirt
• Grey or black trousers (no jeans)
• Grey or black skirt (no leggings)
• Plain black hijab (if required)
• Red school coat (optional)

During the summer, children may wear a green gingham dress or grey shorts.

Footwear

We ask the children to wear the following:

• Flat, sensible, safe, shoes or trainers

PE Kit

• T Shirt in the child's house colour
• Plain navy shorts
• Trainers

During the winter months, pupils may wear grey or black tracksuit bottoms for PE. This should be coupled with their school jumper to maintain warmth.

Hoodies and football kits are not a part of the school uniform or PE uniform. 

Jewellery

The only acceptable items of jewellery to be worn are a wristwatch and earring studs.

Should a pupil have pierced ears, only plain studs should be worn. Watches may be worn to school. However, they must be removed and collected by the class teacher before any PE lessons. Please note that the school will be unable to take any responsibility for any damaged or lost jewellery.

Hair and Make Up

The school asks that children do not wear any form of make up including nail varnish. We recommend that hair should be neat and tidy and worn with no extremes of style or colour. Long hair should be tied back during the school day.

Many of the school uniform items above are readily available from the school office (branded uniform) and from supermarkets (other items). If parents and carers find it difficult to obtain any item, please contact the school for support and guidance.
