Volunteers Wanted

Published on:

Help us bring literacy and storytelling alive at Riversdale, by becoming involved with our Story Sack Project.

We aim to create a variety of story sacks packed with artefacts, costumes, maps, photos, puppets - in fact any objects or ideas that will enhance the stories. We would like the stories and books to reflect the rich cultural diversity of our school and represent as many different countries as possible.

We believe story sacks help develop oracy, geographical and historical knowledge, as well as improving literacy skills, and they enable our children to learn about the world. We already know that children develop an understanding and awareness of different cultures, together with a sense of their own identities, through story-telling.

Please take this opportunity to become involved with this exciting project which will benefit our children, and we hope you will enjoy being creative too.

Our first session will be on Thursday 17th November at 2.15pm in the Parents' Room. Please contact Arlene or Jenny if you have any questions.
