On Thursday morning, the students of Riversdale Primary School stepped back in time to 1948 and aboard The Empire Windrush. The children learnt all about the mass migration of Afro-Caribbean people to Tilbury, Essex, as part of the school's celebration of Black History Month.
This wonderful experience came from Dani Moseley, an actress working with Bigfoot Arts Education, as she played the role of Grace, one of the many people to migrated to the UK following the Second World War. The children were transfixed on the fabulous one-woman show and thoroughly engaged in the many audience participation opportunities.
We recently received a thank you letter, found here, from the actress herself, where she comments on the school's talented children and warm and supportive atmosphere.
We look forward to having Dani in again, if possible, and to continuing our exploration of black history.
