Year 2 have made amazing junk models of buildings and features of seaside towns as part of their Humanities topic work on the Seaside. They brought their beautiful models into school and we set up our very own seaside resort in sunny Riversdale! The children had to think about how to plan the town, deciding which amenities should go nearest the beach and which might be further away. They created the most impressive seaside resort – Riversdale-on-Sea.
If you visit Riversdale-on-Sea you will be able to buy a bucket and spade, choose souvenirs, or enjoy ice cream or candy floss whilst you stroll along the pier. Use one of our colourful beach huts when you visit the beach or maybe you would prefer to go rock pooling, watch a Punch and Judy show, wander through the gorgeous flower gardens or slide down the world’s most beautiful helter skelter? Travel by train to our very own station and stay in the luxurious Hotel Desi. At night you could eat in a restaurant serving fish caught today on the fishing boat Ace or maybe eat fish and chips on the jetty and see the light house shining out to sea – and hopefully preventing any need for our lifeboat to launch. If it’s raining then we have a cinema, town Museum, swimming pool and leisure centre to entertain you, a high street of great shops with a post office to send off your post cards. Our town planners thought of everything – including public toilets! When it’s finally time to go home our town clock will make sure you know when to make for the station.
Riversdale-on-sea - resort of the year for 2017. Open for visits soon.
