The students at Riversdale Primary School commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day last Friday. The school had a special assembly introducing the Holocaust and the history behind it. As part of this, the children discussed their rights and the rights of others to follow their religion without fear of persecution and to be protected from war, in accordance with the UN Children's Rights Charter.
The children then took part in a series of activities designed to further teach them about religious tolerance, equality, discrimination and kindness. They participated in guided reading, role plays, art and creative writing sessions to name but a few. Please take a look at the Global Citizens page of our website at the end of the week, to see some examples of the work produced by the students in relation to this topic.
